San Salvador & Playa El Tunco

This is a Mini Dox film about my trip to El Salvador in early 2022.

El Salvador was my 71st country visited🇸🇻

San Salvador is the capital city and largest city of El Salvador, with a population of about 2.4 million people (metro). San Salvador is an important financial hub in Central America. San Salvador is located in the Salvadoran highlands and sits about 2,000 feet (610 meters) above sea level.

San Salvador has been home to numerous regional and international sporting and political events which include: Central American and Caribbean Games, both in 1935 and 2002, the Central American Games in 1977 and 1994, the Miss Universe Pageant in 1975, and the 18th Ibero-American Summit in 2008.

The Central American Integration System is headquartered in San Salvador.

El Salvador was plagued with a Civil War from 1979 to 1992. This War, along with numerous earthquakes, are responsible for much of the Colonial area's demise.

Top tourist attractions include the National Palace, Monumento al Divino Salvador del Mundo, Iglesia Rosario, Plaza Futura, Parque Bicentenario, National Theatre, and many others.

Buses to La Libertad and Playa El Tunco can be taken using the 102 bus for about $1.50 USD. I walked at least two miles from my hostel, Oasis Hotel, to the Colonial district and I was able to capture a lot of great footage of the best parts of the city. Playa El Tunco is the best surf spot in El Salvador and arguably the best surf spot in all of Central America.

With the launch of Surf City in 2019, El Tunco is becoming increasingly popular among international surfers. https://surfcity-holiday-park.negocio...

Playa El Tunco offers some of the best Pacific coast sunsets in the Western Hemisphere. For surfers, the best time to catch the best surf is from May to October. Team France was crowned the Team Gold Medalist of the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games on May 29th at Playa El Tunco. I enjoyed walking the beach and the boardwalk at Playa El Tunco, and dining at two notable restaurants: Pargos and Restautante La Bocana. https://elsalvador.travel/destination...
