Heritage Travel Campaign-Part 9 (Cherokee Indian Reservation & Great Smoky Mountains National Pa

Part 9 of my "Heritage" travel campaign. I visited the Cherokee Indian Reservation for the second time in my life. The first time was in 1993 on a Boy Scout excursion on our way to the National Jamboree in Washington D.C. The Reservation has developed a great deal, thanks to the likes of the Harrah's Casino that opened in 1997. https://www.caesars.com/harrahs-cherokee

As a 16th Cherokee Indian, Cherokee culture is something I hold dear. The Museum of the the Cherokee Indian and the Oconaluftee River are two must-see attractions at the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina. https://www.cherokeemuseum.org/

I also visited the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and enjoyed seeing the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, which is close to the Reservation. http://visitcherokeenc.com/itinerary-...

At the Visitor Center, I was able to see a Smoky Mountain culture based museum that sells souvenirs. Outside the museum there is live "mountain music" and a walking trail that leads toward the Oconaluftee River and Mountain Farm Museum. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers a wide variety of activies which include camping, hiking, fishing (especially fly fishing), tubing, etc. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/index.htm
